Our pillars: Communication and trust in our team

On October 4th, at Peroni&Parise we took a break to invest on ourselves: we organised a team building day to strengthen cohesion and communication in the company. This day marked the start of a 4-month-long journey, with other days of activities. A commitment that shows how important it is for our company to invest in its people as much as in its structural growth.

A team that’s growing… through frisbees

In 2011, Peroni&Parise’s staff was made up of 11 employees. Today, we are 30, which is one of the reasons that pushed us towards this path towards improving inner communication and trust between us and developing role skills.

To help us in this, we have Tommaso Cuccarolo, a work psychologist expert consultant in training company teams. He introduced an innovative approach based on playing as a metaphor for every-day work. We engaged with UltimateCoaching, a method he developed to activate people, guide future decisions and allow them to try out new behaviours. What is it exactly? Through throwing frisbees, participants learn to trust one another, communicate effectively and work together to achieve a common goal.

“By the evening we were all tired, but smiling”

An immersive experience for our whole team, starting from our company owners, Lorenzo Peroni and Valeria Baldin, who also got involved: “ During the day we switched between moments of playing and moments of reflection and confrontation. We were very impressed by how our coach Tommaso Cuccarolo always managed to maintain a high rhythm and level. The day was thrilling for everyone: by the time the evening came, we were all tired but smiling, also since we were just beginners with frisbees, some scenes were nothing short of hilarious. Some team members even risked decapitation -they joked-.  We are very happy to have challenged ourselves, like everyone else: we believe it was the right choice. “

The activity will now go on to investigate other aspects of the team, with the final purpose of laying down some commonly shared and decided ground rules. The game’s rules will hence become the rules at work, which will be printed out and hung in every office, so that anyone can use them for conflict resolution as well as for managing day-to-day life.
