A new, exciting experience. With her explosive energy and sensibility, our Valeria, co-owner of Peroni & Parise, involved us with KIRAN – Ray of Light, a new volunteering association that aims at bringing concrete help to those in particularly unfortunate situations in India, Nepal and Italy. “An account of how important people are to our company – Valeria said – we hope to mobilise other businesses to help those in need. Caring about others is a fundamental value to us, reason why we invest energy and money on projects such as this. Other than India and Nepal, we also want to focus on our beautiful country, especially dealing with the huge problem that poverty represents, as it unfortunately affects many families here as well”.
KIRAN comes to life with the purpose of bringing light in the darkness of hunger, thirst, poverty, lack of education, healthcare and – unfortunately- much more. A name which is also a manifesto. “Kiran” is a Hindi word that means “light” and “essence of nurture”.
KIRAN’s projects
A newborn organisation that has already started raising funds for two projects:
- Ling Gesar School (Dehradun, India). We will support this academic institution recognised by the Indian government which welcomes poverty- stricken children coming from different religions, cultures, traditions and castes to provide them with free, qualitative education. Young men and women learning to live together in harmony and peace, supporting and understanding each other. Without this school, they would all be living on the road.
- Tsechen Kunga Choekhor Ling Monastery (Mustang, Nepal). A monastic institute which offers education in Buddhism as well as other general subjects. It hosts young monks of ages 4 to 17, coming from remote, destitute areas of Nepal where the basic right to education isn’t guaranteed.
We are also already working on the development of a third project, to raise awareness and do something concrete to improve women’s conditions. It’s a subject we particularly care about and hope to be able to take care of in the years to come, thanks to your help as well.
